Most employers are accommodating in allowing time for National Guard call ups, but deployments for annual training, state domestic support missions, and deployments overseas create serious strains. The endurance of the National Guard is also limited by fiscal considerations. States have limited funds to pay personnel and operational costs, including health care costs.
